abstract A NEW COMPOUND OF THE GENERAL FORMULA 1-((X)N-PHENYL),3-((2,5-DI(O=),3-R-PYRROLIDIN-1-YL)-(Y- PHENYLENE)-A-),4-Z,5-(O=)-2-PYRAZOLINE WHEREIN: R IS AN ALKYL GROUP HAVING 8-18 CARBON ATOMS OR AN ALKENYL GROUP, A IS -NHCO-OR-NH-, X IS A HALOGEN ATOM OR A METHYL ALKOXY, ARLOXY OR ALKOXYCARBONYL GROUP. N IS A INTEGER OF 1 TO3, Y IS A HYDROGEN OR HALOGEN ATOM AND Z IS A HYDROGEN ATOM OR AN ARYLAZO GROUP IS FOUND TO BE USEFUL AS A MAGENTA-FORMING COLOR COUPLER FOR LIGHT-SENSITIVE SILVER HALIDE EMULSIONS IN COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY. THE COUPLER SHOWS GOOD SOLUBILITY IN HIGH BOILING SOLVENT AND FORMS A DYE IMAGE HAVING SUITABLE ABSORPTION FOR COLOR PHOTOGRAPHY.
