abstract A flowmeter for determining the rate of flow of a fluid through a conduit including a thermocouple immersed in the fluid, means for heating the thermocouple to a temperature above the temperature of the flowing fluid and means for recording the thermocouple voltage. The thermocouple is typically helically shaped with the thermocouple junction at the downstream end of the helix. The thermocouple voltage can be related to the rate of flow of the fluid through the conduit.
