abstract Dilute aqueous acidic solutions are concentrated by direct contact with a hot gas stream in a venturi contactor, under specific conditions of the ratio of total solution flow rate to hot gas flow rate, and hot gas flow velocity at the throat section of the venturi passage, so that the acidic liquid solution is concentrated by evaporation of water vapor into the hot gas stream without the formation of an acid mist or other contaminants in the gas stream.
