abstract An apparatus for the manufacture of an extruded thermoplastic tube in which the freshly extruded tube is cooled and sized or calibrated in a liquid cooling medium by passage through a series of draw plates in which the cooling liquid is fed and directed in a spiral flow path emerging along the circumference of the tube as it passes through the central calibrating opening of each draw plate. The draw plates are preferably immersed in water as the cooling liquid partially filling a tank maintained under a vacuum.
