Pentachloropyridine and polychloro derivatives of 2-(trichloromethyl)pyridine are prepared by reacting 2,4-dichloro-6-(trichloromethyl)pyridine in the liquid state with chlorine at temperatures of from about 160 DEG C. in the presence of an amount of catalyst effective to catalyze the reaction. |
