titleOfInvention Process for rim elastomers with superior high temperature dimensional stability
abstract The invention is a method for making reaction injection molded polyurethane of improved properties. The product ccomprises the reaction product of a high molecular weight polyhydric polyether, a low molecular weight active hydrogen containing compound of at least two functionality and a polyisocyanate wherein at least about 30% of the high molecular weight polyether is first mixed and allowed to react with the polyisocyanate and then the remaining polyhydric polyether and low molecular weight active hydrogen containing compound are added to the polyether and polyisocyanate mixture and allowed to react. Reaction injection molded elastomers are useful as molded articles of commerce including, but not limited to, vehicle body parts.
