abstract A temperature sensor including an oscillator circuit comprising a plate-shaped quartz crystal resonator formed using a cut rotated singly through an angle θ about the X axis, θ being in the range -29° to -16° or +39° to +45°. Electrodes are provided on the major surfaces of the resonator to make the resonator vibrate in a thickness shear mode at a frequency which varies substantially linearly in a selected temperature range.
