Cathodic electrodepositable resin compositions particularly adapted for use as film forming compositions in cathodic electrodeposition processes. The resin is the reaction product of a modified epoxy formed by reacting a polyepoxide with a water soluble or water miscible polyol, an excess of polyamine, and an aliphatic monoepoxide. The resin, when combined with a cross-linking agent and solubilized in an aqueous electrodeposition bath, is capable of depositing high build coatings in a short period of time with a low cross-linking temperature in a cathodic electrodeposition process. The resin compositions are salted with an acid and used as components of aqueous cathodic electrodeposition baths. |
