Carnitine, which preferentially accumulates in cardiac and skeletal muscle, is coupled to a protease inhibitor, or any other pharmaceutically active compound for the purpose of site-specific drug delivery to these tissues. n These products may be useful in a variety of muscle wasting diseases. They may also be useful in a variety of cardiac conditions including those produced by cardiac ischemia. They may also be useful as growth promoters for animals. |
