Dihydroxydiphenyl cycloalkanes corresponding to the formula <IMAGE> (I) in which R1 and R2 independently of one another represent hydrogen, halogen, C1-C8 alkyl, C5-C6 cycloalkyl, C6-C10 aryl and C7-C12 aralkyl, m is an integer of from 4 to 7, R3 and R4, individually selectable for each X, independently of one another represent hydrogen or C1-C6 alkyl and X represents carbon with the proviso that, at at least one atom X, both R3 and R4 are alkyl, a process for their production, their use for the production of high molecular weight polycarbonates, the polycarbonates made from dihydroxydiphenyl cycloalkane of formula (I) and films made from these polycarbonates. |
