There is now provided a carbodiimide or polycarbodiimide of the formula: <IMAGE> +TR <IMAGE> where the R radicals are identical or different and are selected from the group consisting of -NHCONHR1-, -NHCONR1R2-, and -NHCOOR3-, where R1 and R2 may be identical or different and are alkyl, cycloalkyl, or aralkyl, and R3 is identical to R1 or is alkoxypolyoxyalkylene, and n is an integer from 0 to 10. There is also provided an ester containing plastic which contains this carbodiimide as an anti-hydrolysis agent. The plastics may be a polyurethane cellular or non-cellular elastomer or thermoplastic. |
