abstract A vibration driven actuator apparatus includes a vibration member, a contact member, and a control circuit for driving the vibration member so that the contact member move relative to the vibration member. The vibration member is first driven in a first vibration mode in which the two members move relative to each other, and then is driven in a second vibration mode in which the two members are moved relative to each other, so that the vibration actuator apparatus can be started reliably.
