abstract Method and apparatuses for broadcasting and receiving media data over a heterogeneous network. A method for receiving media data includes receiving and processing media data broadcast using MMTP packets via a broadcast network. The method also includes, in response to receiving a signaling message associated with the broadcast media data, determining whether broadband media data associated with the broadcast media data is available via a broadband network based on the signaling message. The method includes receiving the broadband media data using DASH via the broadband network. Additionally, the method includes providing the broadband media data in association with the broadcast media data for presentation via a display device.
