Preservative system for ophthalmic solutions |
abstract |
Multi-use ophthalmic solutions require a preservative system designed to kill microbes that come in contact with the solution. Failure of the preservative system can pose potential ocular infection hazard to the solution user. Preservative systems must be both efficacious and non-irritating, a balance which is often difficult to achieve. The present invention describes a three-component preservative system for ophthalmic solutions which is both effective in preventing microbial growth and is compatible with the ocular environment. |
