A honeycomb structure (10) having a number of axially penetrating distribution holes (15) partitioned by partition walls (14), the partition walls (14) for the distribution holes(15) having a filtration ability, one of the respective ends of predetermined distribution holes being closed, the other ends of the remaining distribution holes being closed. The distribution holes (15) have a triangular cross sectional shape, and the density of the distribution holes (15) is less than 54.3 cells/cm2. The honeycomb structure produces less thermal stress during use, has the durability to prevent cracking, and suffers a less loss of fluid pressure. |
