The invention relates to orally administered compositions for foodstuff and animal feedstuff supplements comprising a component of a product from <i>Spirulina</i> algae and/or <i>Chlorella</i> algae, at least one component of oligosaccharide synthesis and, optionally, a component which has the ability to neutralise free radicals. The invention further relates to the use of <i>Spirulina</i>, or <i>Chlorella</i> algae or products therefrom and the use of said compositions for the improvement of the functioning of joints and for the prophylaxis, relief of discomfort or promotion of healing in joint injuries or degenerative joint diseases in mammals, including humans. |
