abstract |
A method and an apparatus for removing sulfur compounds such as H2S and mercaptan contained in an impurity gas accompanying natural gas or the like through recovering them as sulfur as a simple substance, characterized in that it comprises a step of separating the impurity gas form the natural gas or the like, a condensation step of separating the impurity gas into a condensed gas comprising H2S as a main component and a residual gas comprising mercaptan and CO2 as main components, a step of subjecting the condensed gas to a Claus reaction process to recover H2S as simple sulfur, a step of heating the off-gas from the Claus reaction process to a temperatre of 700 C or less and mixing the heated off-gas with the above residual gas, a step of subjecting the resultant mixed gas to a desulfurization process to convert sulfur compounds such as mercaptan to H2S by using a reduction catalyst, and a step of separating the H2S and recycling it to the above Claus reaction process. |
