titleOfInvention | A self-adjusting snow plow attachable to a vehicle |
abstract | A self-adjusting snow plow (10) is disclosed. The snow plow (10) includes a mounting apparatus (14) for attachment to a vehicle, and a plow blade (30) having a plurality of retention members (38) and a rubber scraper. The retention members (38) are constructed and arranged to at least partially encircle and slidably engage respective mounting uprights (20) when the plow blade (30) is in a working orientation. The retention members (38) allow the respective ends of the plow blade (30) to slide upward relative to the mounting upright (20) most proximate to that end of the plow while the other end of the plow remains generally in the same position relative to the mounting upright (20) proximate that end of the plow blade (30). The retention members (38) also permit the bottom of the plow blade (30) to freely pivot away from the respective mounting uprights (20) when the plow blade (30) is in a working orientation and the vehicle moves in a rearward direction. |
