abstract The present invention relates to automated methods, systems, and apparatuses for protein separation and analysis, based on capillary electrophoresis-tandem mass spectrometry, according to the Scheme represented in Figure 30. Proteins can be preliminary separated using multidimensional chromatography or 2D gel electrophoresis with isoelectric point in a first dimension and hydrophobicity in a second dimension. The present invention thus provides improved methods for the separation and analysis of samples containing a plurality of proteins (e.g. of cells).
