abstract The invention relates to a method of synthesising a crystalline material and to the material thus obtained. The inventive method consists in: producing seeds (6) of a catalyst on a substrate (2), said catalyst being adapted to solubilise carbon; growing carbon nanotubes (8) from the seeds (6); and producing a layer of a second material comprising at least one monocrystalline domain (12) which is oriented from a seed (6). The invention also relates to the material obtained using said method. The invention is suitable for the synthesis of polycrystalline silicon on a glass substrate.
