A material for negative electrode of nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, comprised of a spherical carbon material of ≥ 0.8 sphericity, characterized in that the negative electrode material exhibits, as measured by X-ray diffractometry, a (002) average stratification plane spacing (d002) of 0.365 to 0.400 nm and a crystallite diameter in the c-axis direction (Lc(002)) of 1.0 to 3.0 nm and exhibits, as measured by elementary analysis, an atomic ratio between hydrogen and carbon (H/C) of ≤0.1 and an average particle diameter (Dv50(μm)) of 1 to 20 μm. This negative electrode material is spherical and realizes excellent aptitudes including high output performance and durability. |
