abstract The invention relates to a device (1a) which is used to determine the filling level of a substance in an ampoule (5) comprising at least two electrodes (2a, 2b) between which the substance can be introduced. The invention also relates to a method for determining the filling level of a substance in an ampoule comprising at least two electrodes, whereby the filling level is determined by measuring the capacity of at least one condenser (C1, C2, C3) which is formed by at least two electrodes. The dielectricity constant of the substance, which is arranged at least partially between the at least two electrodes, influences the capacitive coupling of the at least two electrodes.
