abstract An audio PTS comparing section (110) detects if there is any gap between a PTS (hereinafter referred to as the current PTS) acquired by an audio PTS acquiring section (108) and the PTS (hereinafter referred to as the previous PTS) in the previous audio frame held in an audio PTS holding section (109). If it is detected, a synchronization control section (111) instructs an audio decoding section (103) to decode the audio frame in which the gap is detected as fail/safe data.
