titleOfInvention Genes which are related to trehalose biosynthesis and mass-production of trehalose using thereof
abstract The present invention relates to genes involved in trehalose biosynthesis and strains transformed with the genes, more precisely the genes involved in trehalose biosynthesis which are isolated from Streptomyces albus ATCC 21838, an Actinomyces, the strain transformed with a vector containing the gene and the recombinant trehalose synthase obtained from the culture of the transformed strain and a method for producing trehalose from the transformed strain. Trehalose of the present invention can be used as an excipient for the production of medicines to increase stability of such biological products as vaccine, hormone, blood and antibody, etc. Trehalose can also be used for health food to enhance resistance against various stresses, and additives for food and functional cosmetics.
