| abstract | Wind or hydraulic radial turbine. The turbine comprises multiple nozzles with thin vertical walls, which form the fixed structure of the turbine. Within said structure is a runner, with a vertical shaft, equipped with blades, hinged to arms firmly secured to the runner, which can adopt intermediate positions between those of maximum and minimum opening, depending on the speeds of the incoming currents. Gradual opening of the blades, to take maximum advantage of the corresponding energies, is achieved automatically by means of tensioning devices such as that formed by a coiling drum and a cable, the ends of the latter being attached to the blade and the drum, and the drum fastened to the runner. The radial turbine is completed with a cover, which is supported on a plate or on beams bridging the walls of the nozzles. Useful for capturing the kinetic energy of air or water in movement. |
