Provided is a method of safely, economically and effectively concentrating and accumulating a health functioning component contained in a plant material (for example, a vegetable sterol or ?-oryzanol), which has various health functions, from the plant material to thereby effectively utilize the component in preventing and treating lifestyle-related diseases. Fish capable of efficiently absorbing a vegetable sterol or ?-oryzanol (for example, fish belonging to the family Salmonidae, Sparidae, Anguillidae, Carangidae or Scombridae) are fed with a feed containing a plant material such as cereal bran. By using the biological concentration ability of the fish, the above-described component is transferred into the fish bodies and then accumulated in the fish muscles so that the above-described health functioning component is safely, economically and effectively concentrated and accumulated from the plant material without conducting any extraction treatment with the use of an organic solvent as in the existing cases. |
