This invention reveals a novel skin-rejuvenating method that combines the application of light physics (a Light emitting diode (LED) device with specific wavelength, intensity, and pulsing frequency) and biochemistry (a specific collagenase inhibitor). The programmed LED light can penetrate skin epidermis and activate the fibroblasts in dermis to produce new collagen. Meanwhile, the overproduction of collagen leads to the feedback activation of collagenase, which degrades collagen and eliminates the beneficiary effects of LED light. Hence, this invention also includes a topical cream containing a certain lipophilic collagenase inhibitor, which, when used alone or in combination with the light device, can maintain high levels of skin collagen, and eventually achieve the long term effects of reducing wrinkles, enhancing skin elasticity, and diminishing eye bags and dark circles. The light device and active-containing cream have achieved positive effects when tested in human trials. |
