titleOfInvention | Stitch-removal pincer |
abstract | The stitch-removal pincer is used for removing sutures sewn using any type of non-absorbable suture thread. The stitch-removal pincer comprises a distal mechanism characterized by three parts: The wedge (2), an extension of the upper handle (1), the grasper (8), an extension of the upper portion (7) of the lower handle (3), and the cutter (4), an extension of the lower handle (3). These parts, which are operated using the handles (1) and (3) with a single axis (5), enable the pincer to perform two independent functions. Sutures are currently removed using two hands, one holding the scalpel blade and the other a pincer that pulls the suture thread so that it can be cut and removed. With the stitch-removal pincer this dual grasping/cutting function can be performed in one two-step action, removing the stitch. |
