titleOfInvention Rod-shaped optical element, in particular in an arrangement having a light source and a wave conductor, and method for producing such an element
abstract The invention relates to a rod-shaped optical element, in particular in an arrangement having a light source and a wave conductor, and to method for creating such an element. A core-sheath-rod is provided, that is, a rod-shaped optical element having a core (20) made of translucent material that has a first refraction index, and a sheath (22) having a refraction index that is higher than the first refraction index, wherein the core-sheath-rod has a bulge, meaning that the middle region thereof has a larger diameter than the ends thereof. Such a rod-shaped optical element can be used in particular in arrangements, where a light-emitting diode (10) emits light to be coupled into a wave conductor (14). The optical element (18) according to the invention is produced by pulling apart (preferably twice) and subsequently compressing a standard core-sheath-rod. Alternatively, the core is produced first and then encapsulated.
