abstract Present invention relates to a photovoltaic cell comprising a first substrate, a first charge collector positioned adjacent to the first substrate, wherein the first charge collector comprises or consists of a first grid electrode comprised of a plurality of electrically connected individual electrodes spaced apart from one another and the plurality of individual electrodes extending from the surface of the first charge collector, wherein the spacing between two neighbouring individual electrodes is at most twice the electron diffusion length (EDL), a second charge collector, and a photoactive layer interposed between the first charge collector and the second charge collector.
