abstract The present invention is a polymerizable compound (I), a polymerizable composition containing the polymerizable compound and a polymerization initiator, a polymer obtained by polymerizing the polymerizable compound or polymerizable composition, an optically anisotropic body in which the polymer is a constituent material, a carbonyl compound (4), a method for producing the polymerizable compound (I) characterized by reacting said compound and a hydrazine compound, and a method for using the carbonyl compound (4) as a raw material for producing the polymerizable compound (I). According to the present invention, provided is a polymerizable compound or the like that has a practical, low melting point, is highly soluble in general-purpose solvents, can be produced at low cost, and can yield an optical film that enables uniform polarization conversion in a broad wavelength band. Also provided is a carbonyl compound or the like that can be used as a raw material for producing the polymerizable compound or the like. (In formula (I), Y 1 to Y 8 represent -C(=O)-O- or the like, G 1 and G 2 represent a C 1-20 divalent linear aliphatic group or the like, Z 1 and Z 2 represent a C 2-10 alkenyl group that is unsubstituted or substituted with a halogen atom, A x represents a C 2-30 organic group having an aromatic ring, A y represents a hydrogen atom or C 1-20 alkyl group or the like, A 1 represents a trivalent aromatic group or the like, A 2 and A 3 represent a C 3-30 divalent alicyclic hydrocarbon group or the like, A 4 and A 5 represent a C 6-30 divalent aromatic group or the like, and Q 1 represents a hydrogen atom or the like.)
