abstract The invention relates generally to a compound according to formula I - more in particular la or lb, a stereochemically isomeric form thereof, an N-oxide form thereof, or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid or base addition salt thereof-, for use as a cognitive enhancement (pro-cognitive) agent and pharmaceutical compositions and combinations thereof. The compound and compositions according to this invention are in particular suitable for the treatment (or prevention) of disorders which are associated with cognitive impairment by improving one or more of cognition, memory, executive functions, learning, behavior and the like. Furthermore, the compounds and compositions are useful agents for the treatment of non-cognitive psychopathological symptoms associated with cognitive impairment such as, but not limited to, irritability, tension, neurovegetative symptoms, sleep problems, concentration difficulties, loneliness, depression symptoms and slowing. These symptoms could all be the joint manifestation of a cognitive disorder making the compounds and compositions also useful for the improvement of these non-cognitive symptoms.
