abstract | Provided are an image conversion method and apparatus from an RGB signal to an RGBW signal. The method comprises the following steps: converting each received RGB input signal into a corresponding RGB brightness input value (S101); determining RGBW brightness output values according to a relationship between a corresponding point of each RGB brightness input value in the chromatogram and a position of each RGBW divided area (S102); and converting each determined RGBW brightness output value into a corresponding RGBW output signal and outputting the signals (S103). By determining a corresponding point of each RGB brightness input value in the chromatogram, the RGB brightness input values are converted into RGBW brightness output values, which can ensure color distortionless during conversion from the RGB signal to the RBGW signal. Moreover, when the RGBW brightness output values are determined according to the corresponding point of each RGB brightness input value in the chromatogram, the RGBW brightness output values can be adjusted as required, so as to improve the brightness of the display device in whole and improve the image contrast. |
