A catalyst according to the present invention is a novel salen type catalyst comprising at least one from among a compound represented by formula (1) in claim 1 and a compound represented by formula (2) in claim 1, and a production method for an aromatic carbonate according to the present invention comprises a step of producing the aromatic carbonate by reacting an aromatic alcohol and carbon dioxide in the presence of the catalyst. The production method for the aromatic carbonate can produce a high yield of the aromatic carbonate. |
