The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method with which tetraalkoxysilane can be produced with high yield while saving energy. This method for producing tetraalkoxysilane includes a reaction step in which a reaction between an alcohol and silicon oxide is induced. In the method for producing tetraalkoxysilane, tetraalkoxysilane can be produced with high yield while saving energy, by satisfying condition (a), namely that the reaction be induced in the presence of a metal alkoxide, and/or condition (b), namely that the reaction be induced in the presence of an acetal represented by general formula (1) (in general formula (1): R 1 and R 2 each independently represent hydrogen or a C1-15 hydrocarbon group, with the caveat that cases in which R 1 and R 2 both represent hydrogen are excluded; and R represents a C1-15 hydrocarbon group). |
