Disclosed herein are electrolyte compositions comprising a liquid medium comprising at least one non-aqueous solvent; inorganic particles comprising at least one Group 2 metal fluoride and having an average primary median particle diameter d?50#191 in the range of about 1 nm to about 700 nm as determined by dynamic light scattering; and at least one electrolyte salt. The inorganic particles and the liquid medium form a suspension. The electrolyte compositions are useful in electrochemical cells, such as lithium ion batteries. |
