titleOfInvention Photocathode assembly for a vacuum photoelectric device with a semi-transparent photocathode
abstract The invention relates to photocathode assemblies for vacuum photoelectric devices operating in the ultraviolet spectrum and containing a photocathode based on gallium nitride compounds, and can be used in direct-conversion image intensifiers, photomultipliers and microchannel intensified position-sensitive detectors, manufactured by means of the separate processing of photocathode and housing parts. In a photocathode assembly for a vacuum photoelectric device with a semi-transparent photocathode, layers of a heteroepxitaxial gallium nitride compound structure are grown as a semi-transparent photocathode on the inside surface of an inlet port provided in a sapphire disc. On the outside surface of the inlet port an element, made of a bimetal, for joining the inlet port to the housing of a vacuum photoelectric device is vacuum-tightly fastened about the periphery of the inlet port. A layer of the bimetal which is not in contact with the outside surface of the inlet port consists of a material with a coefficient of linear thermal expansion which differs from the coefficient of linear thermal expansion of sapphire by not more than 10% within a temperature range of from 20°С to 200°С. The invention increases the scope of use of a photocathode assembly for a vacuum photoelectric device with a semi-transparent photocathode, increases the quantum efficiency of a semi-transparent photocathode of a photocathode assembly for a vacuum photoelectric device, and satisfies the requirement of uniform resolving power across the working field of the screen of a vacuum photoelectric device in the event of a photocathode assembly being used in a direct-conversion image intensifier.
