A compound roll for rolling which: has a welded and integrated outer layer and inner layer; is configured in a manner such that the outer layer thereof comprises an Fe-based alloy containing, by mass, 1-3% C, 0.3-3% Si, 0.1-3% Mn, 0.1-5% Ni, 1-7% Cr, 1-8% Mo, 4-7% V, 0.005-0.15% N, and 0.05-0.2% B; is configured in a manner such that the inner layer thereof comprises a graphitic cast iron containing, by mass, 2.4-3.6% C, 1.5-3.5% Si, 0.1-2% Mn, 0.1-2% Ni, less than 0.7% Cr, less than 0.7% Mo, 0.05-1% V, and 0.01-0.1% Mg; has a body core section where the inner layer is welded to the outer layer, and has shaft parts that integrally extend from both ends of the body core section, wherein at least one of the shaft parts contains hard MC carbides having an equivalent circle diameter of 5μm or greater in an amount equal to or greater than 200/cm 2 . |
