The present invention relates to a power monitoring device (PMD) for real-time management, status reporting, and remote health / status analysis of equipment connected to the PMD. For example, a PMD provides data indicating whether the connected equipment is idling, fully operational, malfunctioning, etc. The PMD can turn on / off power, trigger a system alert, and perform special or delayed profile programming to manage and monitor equipment usage. An electrical signature identification capability can identify which devices such as a screen, laptop, lighting equipment, etc. are connected. A configuration may be used by the power management device based, at least in part, on waveform information (e.g., device model, activity state, etc.). Real-time diagnosis and collection of energy consumption and usage profile can be aggregated for planning and management. Asset management may be enabled by discovering models of devices that are active and connected to a predefined power management device. |
