The present invention relates to a packaging material for use as a food package, wherein said packaging material comprises an additive-containing layer that can transition from a first state to a second state in response to an external stimulus and a barrier layer which can be formed between said layer and the contents of the package. The barrier layer limits diffusion of said additive to the contents of the package. |
