An implantable pulse generator system (IPG) or external assay stimulator system (ETS), which is capable of detecting an evoked compound action potential (ECAP), and (optionally together with a external device) which is able to set a stimulation program while keeping a central stimulation point (CPS) location constant. In particular, one or more measured ECAP characteristics (s) indicating their shape and size are determined, and compared to thresholds or ranges for modifying the electrode configuration of the stimulation program. |
