abstract A system for viewing a zone to be monitored that is located nearby comprises, according to the invention: an individual launcher (10), in which a first propulsion charge (2) and a modular tube (3) are housed that integrate a viewing assembly (30) and in which a second charge (7) is housed for releasing the viewing assembly (30) outside the tube (3); and a viewing screen (21) connected to a video signal receiver (20) originating from the viewing assembly (30). This viewing assembly (30) comprises a video camera (4) provided with an objective lens (41) and a video signal transmitter (4E), as well as a parachute (10) provided with rigging lines (51). Said camera (4) is connected to the parachute (5) by a cord (6) linking the rigging lines (51) assembled at the end at one end (40) of the camera (4) opposite its objective lens (41). Furthermore, the cord (6) comprises portions linked by at least one joint (9a, 9b) forming a free rotation in a plane perpendicular to the portions of cord (6) close to this joint (9a, 9b).
