abstract | The present invention provides a novel block copolymer which is able to be used as a surface treatment agent that is capable of imparting objects such as inorganic particles with various characteristics such as dispersibility. A block copolymer according to the present invention comprises a hydrophobic segment and a hydrophilic segment; the hydrophobic segment contains a monomer unit which is composed of at least one monomer that is selected from monomers represented by formula 1 or formula 2; and the hydrophilic segment contains a monomer unit which is composed of a monomer represented by formula 3. In formula 1, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and m represents an integer of 0-21. In formula 2, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; each of R2 and R3 independently represents an alkyl group having 1-6 carbon atoms; m represents an integer of 1-6; and n represents an integer of 5-70. In formula 3, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group. |
