This image forming apparatus is provided with an image carrier, a charging device, an exposure device, and a developing device. The charging device charges the peripheral surface of the image carrier positive. The exposure device exposes the charged peripheral surface of the image carrier so as to form an electrostatic latent image on the peripheral surface of the image carrier. Upon receiving application of a developing bias, the developing device supplies toner to the electrostatic latent image. The developing bias is voltage obtained by superimposing AC voltage on DC voltage. The frequency of the AC voltage is 4-10 kHz. The image carrier is provided with a conductive base body and a single photosensitive layer. The photosensitive layer contains a charge generating agent, a hole transport agent, an electron transport agent, and a binder resin. The image carrier satisfies expression (1). |
