abstract A method and system for calculating rock strength by using logging-while-drilling data. The method comprises the following steps: step 1, preprocessing a data sample set of the collected logging-while-drilling parameters (S110); step 2, analyzing the preprocessed data set of the logging-while-drilling parameters, using different data dimension reduction methods to determine the relationships and contribution rates of variables in the logging-while-drilling parameters, using an ordered weighted average operator method to calculate the plurality of weighted average contribution rates of each variable of the logging-while-drilling parameters, and determining the main characteristic parameters in the logging-while-drilling parameters by sorting and optimizing according to the combined contribution rates, and using the mechanical testing of rock strength to obtain the compressive strength of surrounding rocks of different grades (S120); and step 3, establishing a mathematical model between the uniaxial compressive strength and the main characteristic parameters of the rocks of different grades based on the data obtained in step 2 to evaluate the uniaxial compressive strength of the rock (S130). By means of the method, the strength of the rock can be obtained more simply and efficiently.
