abstract | The invention relates to a battery system (10) for a motor vehicle, comprising at least one first battery module (51) which has a plurality of battery cells (2) and which supplies a first module voltage (U1), and a second battery module (52) which has a plurality of battery cells (2) and which supplies a second module voltage (U2), wherein the first battery module (51) and the second battery module (52) are connected in series. Each of the battery modules (51, 52) has at least one internal balancing unit (40), by means of which charge states of the battery cells (2) within each of the battery modules (51, 52) can be reduced, and a management system (30) for monitoring the battery cells (2) and for controlling the balancing unit (40). A communications connection (90) is provided via which the management system (30) of the first battery module (51) and the management system (30) of the second battery module (52) communicate with each other. The invention also relates to a method for operating a battery system (10) according to the invention, wherein the management system (30) of the first battery module (51) sends information about charge states of the battery cells (2) of the first battery module (51) to the management system (30) of the second battery module (52) via the communications connection (90), and wherein the management system (30) of the second battery module (52) sends information about charge states of the battery cells (2) of the second battery module (52) to the management system (30) of the first battery module (52) via the communications connection (90). The invention also relates to a motor vehicle which comprises a battery system (10) according to the invention that is operated using the method according to the invention. |
