titleOfInvention | Method and device for sensing a spatial region by means of radar waves |
abstract | The invention relates to a method for sensing a spatial region by means of radar waves, in which method a radar apparatus (2) emits radar waves into the spatial region and receives radar echoes (RE) from the spatial region, which radar echoes result from the backscattering of the radar waves from the spatial region. The radar apparatus (2) processes the received radar echoes (RE) in order to determine information about the spatial region. In the spatial region, one or more spheres (1) are installed as radar reflectors, which spheres each comprise a spherical outer wall (1a), which is partially transparent and partially reflective for the radar waves of the radar apparatus (2). In the interior of each sphere (1), a hollow region (1b) adjoins the outer wall (1a), which hollow region is sized such that radar beams (P, P') of radar radiation (RS, RS') of the radar apparatus (2), which radar radiation enters via the outer wall (1a), occur in the interior of the sphere (1), which radar beams are reflected two times and three times, respectively, on the outer wall (1a) and subsequently exit via the outer wall (1a) as a radar echo (RE, RE') oppositely to and parallel to the direction of incidence of the entering radar radiation (RS, RS'), the radar apparatus (2) detecting the sphere (1) by means of the radar echo (RE, RE'). |
