abstract [Problem] To provide a primer composition that is for an optical article, that has excellent preservation stability, and that can be used in a dip coating method. [Solution] A primer composition for optical article, the composition comprising: (A) an urethane prepolymer that is a reactant between (A1) a polyisocyanate compound having two or more isocyanate groups per molecule and (A2) at least one polyol compound having two or more hydroxyl groups per molecule and being selected from the group consisting of polycarbonate polyols, polyester polyols, and polycaprolactone polyols, and that has two or more isocyanate groups per molecule protected by a blocking agent; (B) an active hydrogen-containing compound having, per molecule, two or more active hydrogen functional groups having an active hydrogen; and (C) an organic solvent not having an active hydrogen.
