abstract A very thin, non load-bearing natural stone plate (1) has profile grooves (2) in which corresponding profile projections (8) of a supporting plate (3) engage by interlocking. The supporting plate (3) is glued to the natural stone plate (1) at least in the profile grooves (2). To manufacture this facing element, a raw plate (10) of natural stone is glued on both sides to a supporting plate (3) and then divided along a plane (12) parallel to the supporting plates (3). In this way, facing elements, for example for facades, with a very low weight per unit area can be manufactured.
