titleOfInvention Defluoridation of carboxylic acids using zeolites
abstract The invention discloses the use of zeolites as fluoride adsorbers in the purification of a saturated carboxylic acid having 3 to 5 carbon atoms, with a residual fluoride content, for example isobutyric acid. In order to carry out the purification process, the acid to be purified is placed in contact with a zeolite filler, the latter having, in particular, pores of between 0.5 and 0.7 nm, and a crystalline level at least equal to 90 %. According to the specific production modes, water is added to the acid to be defluoridated in a proportion of up to 5 % by weight in relation to said acid; and a first defluoridation of acid used at the outset is carried out on the bed of another adsorber resulting in a coarse defluoridation, before carrying out the final defluoridation on zeolite.
